Scarborough Youth PhotoVoice Project


Registration is now open for the Scarborough Youth PhotoVoice Project!

Scarborough Youth PhotoVoice Project is a 3-day immersive, participatory photography workshop specifically designed for youth in grades 9-12 residing in centre/north Scarborough. Youth participants will be introduced to the potential of photography as a catalyst for storytelling, self-expression and social action and will collaborate on a photo essay project that explores their experiences as youth living in Scarborough.

Digital cameras will be provided to all youth for use during the workshop.

Workshop Dates

Friday, July 6 | 6-9 pm

Saturday, July 7 | 1-6 pm

Sunday, July 8 | 1-5 pm

Workshop Location

225 Morningside Ave. (Community Recreation Room), Scarborough, ON

Group Exhibit & Discussion

The project will culminate in a group photo exhibit and discussion at the Morningside Library branch. Date to be announced soon.

Facilitator

Diana Nazareth is a certified teaching artist, professional lifestyle photographer and the founder of Project Kids & Cameras. Her programs are informed by an extensive study of key progressive methods such a Literacy Through Photography, PhotoVoice and Visual Thinking Strategies and she has facilitated photography workshops to thousands of kids in schools, community art centres, libraries and community-engagement initiatives throughout the GTA.

Registration

Spots are limited. Please note that you must reside in north/centre Scarborough in order to qualify for a workshop spot, and you must commit to attend all 3 sessions in their entirety. Deadline to register is June 22.
