Skate & Create

On August 11, we were invited to participate in Skate & Create, a free summer workshop series run by Impact Skateboard Club that invites guest artists from a variety of fields to share their skills with their young skateboarding members. The series is held on weekends at the East York Skatepark, and their last workshop will be held on August 25 with Yoga instructor Ian Kilburn.

Impact Skateboard Club is a groundbreaking non-profit organization in Toronto, focused on empowerment and youth development through skateboarding. We hope to partner again with this very amazing organization.

It was a gorgeous summer day and we had a blast sharing our love of photography with these awesome kids under the shade of a beautiful old tree, no less. We did a brief lesson about vantage points, gave each kid a cameras, and sent them on a vantage points scavenger hunt. We even found an electrical outlet near the skate park to plug our portable printers into! Our printers began to jam (we suspected it was the heat) but we managed to have each skateboarder print one of their photos before heading back to their skate lesson. A great day all around!

Our founder and lead instructor, Diana Nazareth, gets things started with tips on how to add impact to your photos using vantage points.

Many thanks to these photos taken by parents Tim McNab, Jenny Teksen, and Elisabeth De Fazio!
